John S. VanSyckel Jr., 88, died February 26, 2010 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, NH.
He was born April 29, 1921 in Springfield, MA., son of the late John S. VanSyckel Sr. and Kathryn VanSyckel.
John graduated from Brookline High School in Brookline, MA. where he grew up . He enlisted into the United States Navy and served in WWII.
John was a longtime resident in Westwood, MA. and worked many years in the railroad business as an engineer for Penn Central. He moved to New Hampshire in 1972 and lived mainly in Barrington and Rochester.
In his free time, John liked to play golf.
Mr. VanSyckel was pre deceased by his wife Maxine (Sawin) VanSyckel and one son, John S. VanSyckel III.
He is survived by his daughter, Jan VanSyckel of Fremont, NH, three grandchildren, Alisa VanSyckel, Anja VanSyckel and Sebastian VanSyckel all of Germany.
A calling hour will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 2:00-3:00 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Epping, NH.
Funeral services will follow on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
Spring burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, Rochester, NH.
