Dorothy S. Cummings, 78, died February 26, 2010 at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, NH after a long illness.
She was born May 8, 1931 in Biddeford, ME., daughter of the late Israel Shevenell and Marion (Roy) Shevenell.
Dorothy graduated from Biddeford High School in Biddeford, ME. where she grew up. In 1953, she married Kenneth S. Cummings and they began a family together. In 1971, they moved to Kingston, NH. Dorothy was an active mother in the 4H Club and as a Troop Leader with the Girl Scouts in Kingston.
Mrs. Cummings and her husband were active members of the Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Brentwood, NH.
In her spare time, Dorothy enjoyed gardening, bird watching and cooking.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Kenneth S. Cummings Sr. of Kingston, NH, a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth S. Cummings Jr. and Nancy of East Kingston, NH, a daughter and son-in-law, Leigh Estelle and Brian of Newmarket, NH, 4 grandchildren, Laura Cummings, Elissa Cummings, Samuel Estelle, and Madison Estelle, several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
Services will be held on May 1, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Pilgrim UCC Church, Brentwood, NH.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pilgrim UCC Church, 197 Middle Rd., Brentwood, NH 03833.
