Jay B. Hull, 41, died unexpectedly on July 8, 2010 at his home in Fremont . He was born in Haverhill, MA on June 14, 1969 and grew up in Newton, NH . Jay graduated from Sanborn Regional High School in 1987 and graduated from NH Vocational Technical College in Stratham, NH .
A skilled mechanic, Jay was the owner and operator of Hull Automotive Services on Rte. 125 in Kingston , NH for the last 12 years. Formerly of Charlotte , NC and Raymond, NH , he had been a resident of Fremont for the last 10 years.
Jay was also a talented race car driver who through the years raced in several different divisions including Late Models, Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Mini Trucks and Roadrunners. A list of the tracks he raced at includes Lee USA Speedway (NH), Star Speedway (NH), Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) and Oxford Plains Speedway (ME).
He was also a member and avid fan of NASCAR and crewed for teams on the American-Canadian Tour, in the old NASCAR Sportsman Series and elsewhere. Most recently, Jay was building a Late Model for Modified driver Andy Seuss to drive on the ACT Late Model Tour and in the 2011 Oxford 250.
Jay was a man with a big heart and supported many charitable organizations involving children including Make-a-Wish and Victory Junction. He once befriended a terminally ill child and took him to see many races. He also flew the colors of the Girl Scouts on one of his racecars when he realized that cheering for a racecar could make those young fans happy.
He is survived by his parents, Harry B. and Janice M. (Comeau) Hull of Clermont, FL & formerly of Newton, NH, three brothers, Jeffery T. Hull of Glenn Dale, MD, Harry B. Hull II & wife Lauren of Auburn, NH, and Kenneth Hull & wife Karen of Weare, NH; his sister, Sharon Tonas and husband Costas of Fremont, NH; his nieces and nephews, Shaun Hull, Zachary Hull, Amanda Hull, Brittany Tonas, Cassandra Tonas, Alexandria Tonas; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 11 AM at Christ Episcopal Church, located on 43 Pine St. in Exeter , NH . Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter , NH is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations may be made in his memory to either the American Bullmastiff Association (ABA) Rescue Service at PO Box 300, Templeton, MA 01468 in memory of his beloved dog Richie or to Victory Junction, a NASCAR camp for children with disabilities at 4500 Adam's Way, Randleman, NC, 27317.
