Eileen Brown Gibney, 88, died Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Ernest Barka Assisted Living in Brentwood, NH after a period of failing health. She was born January 10, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Harry Atwood Brown and Anna (Schnetzer) Brown. Eileen lived most of her life in New York. She graduated from Kings County Hospital Nursing Program and worked as a registered nurse in city hospitals and later as a school nurse teacher for many years for the North Babylon Public Schools. When she retired, she moved to New Hampshire, initially residing at Hampton Beach for a short time, then moved to Epping, NH for eight years, and later moved to Brentwood, NH in 1988 where she was until her death. Mrs. Gibney was an active Communicant of St. Joseph Church in Epping as she was an original RCIA member and continued on for many years after, she served as a Lector and Eucharistic minister also at the Church, and was a 20 year volunteer at the Rockingham County Nursing Home. She was pre deceased by her husband, John R. Gibney Sr. She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Kathy and Steve Biedenbach of Loveland, OH., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 25, 2010 from 6:30-9:30 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, Epping, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Church, Epping, NH. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Epping, NH on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Rockingham County Nursing Home, 117 North Rd., Brentwood, NH 03833 or the Knights of Columbus, c/o St. Joseph Church, 208 Pleasant St. Epping, NH 03042.
