William "Bill" F. Magoon, 79, died suddenly on December 28, 2012 at his home in Exeter. A native and lifelong resident of Exeter, NH, he was born on October 25, 1933, the son of the late Francis R. and Mary S. (Waleryszak) Magoon. He graduated from Exeter High School, Class of 1951, and served in the United States Air Force. He also graduated from Burdett Business School in Boston, MA where he majored in finance and accounting. In 1961, he married Phyllis (Zygmuntowicz) in Rhode Island.
He was formerly employed by the Federal Government for 38 years in finance, and also formerly worked for the Internal Revenue Service and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He also helped local seniors with their tax returns, and was a member of the NH Audubon Society. He greatly enjoyed fishing with his friend Don Guilmette. He also enjoyed camping, and social outings with his Sampson Air Force Base members.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Phyllis (Zygmuntowicz) Magoon of Exeter, NH; his daughter, Christine L. Magoon of Exeter, NH, and several nieces and nephews.
There will be an hour of visitation on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at St. Michaels Church, 9 Lincoln St., Exeter, NH on Wednesday. Burial will follow in the Exeter Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, Heart Gifts Processing Center, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
