Valerie Carver Leonard, 57, died on July 3, 2010 at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, NH after bravely fighting a lengthy illness. She was born in Exeter, NH on November 25, 1952 and grew up in the town of Raymond, NH.
A 1970 graduate of Raymond High School, she attended Notre Dame College in Manchester, NH and was formerly employed at the Manchester Daycare and Liberty Mutual in Manchester, NH. Valerie was also employed for over 20 years as a carrier for the Lawrence Eagle Tribune. Formerly of Andover, MA, she had been a resident of Salem, NH since 1985.
A loving and compassionate person, Valerie was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother who always put the needs of her family first. She loved to entertain guests and enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, especially their annual trips to Walt Disney World.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Daniel T. Leonard of Salem, NH; two sons, Timothy R. and his wife Katherine Leonard of Salem, NH, and David D. Leonard of Salem, NH; her grandson Nicholas R. Leonard; her parents, A. Reed and M. Maxine (Brown) Carver of Raymond, NH; her brother Bruce A. and wife Eileen Carver of Lancaster, NH; three sisters, Carlene C. and husband William M. McCarty of Brattleboro, VT, Allison C. and husband Kevin Schmidlein of Mont Vernon, NH, and Heather Carver and husband Roger Seacole of Mont Vernon, NH; and many nieces and nephews.
Valerie was lovingly cared for the last few years by her family who would also like to acknowledge the wonderful care she received from the emergency room and intensive care unit staff at the Parkland Medical Center as well as from the Homecare nurses and therapists from Northeast Rehabilitation.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 11 AM, at the Raymond Congregational Church, located on 1 Church St., Raymond, NH. Burial will follow in the New Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond, NH. Brewitt Funeral Home, 2 Epping St., Raymond, NH is handling the arrangements.
