Norman Edward Weldy Jr. "Norm", 84, died unexpectedly April 4, 2017 at his home in Clearwater, FL.

He was born June 12, 1932 in Olean, NY, son of the late Norman Edward Weldy Sr. and Dorothea C. (Wank) Weldy.

Norm grew up in Olean, NY. He served in the United States Navy from 1948-1952. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Boiler Technician-Petty Officer Third Class. Norm married Linda Whitney in 1976 and they were longtime residents in Raymond, NH. He worked for many years as a correctional officer for the Rockingham County House of Corrections in Brentwood and he was also previously a Raymond Police Officer, Nottingham Police Officer, Kingston Police Officer and on the Rockingham County Sheriff Department. He also served as a fireman with the Town of Kingston. Before joining law enforcement, Norm worked as a maintenance supervisor for an Amesbury, MA. nursing home. Norm and Linda have made their home in Clearwater, FL for the last 10 years.

Mr. Weldy was also well known for his civic accomplishments as a longtime Raymond selectman and State Representative in New Hampshire. While he was a selectman, Norm worked diligently to lower taxes for the elderly and as State Rep. he worked hard with the Health and Human Services Committee. Because of 2 heart bypasses, Norm had to retire.

Norm was a lifetime member of the Hurd-Welch American Legion Post#90 in Raymond.

Mr. Weldy enjoyed talking to people and telling stories. He enjoyed going to the shooting range and he was a member of the NRA. Norm was a strong and proud man and will be sadly missed.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Weldy, son, Norman Edward Weldy III "Ed", and a brother, Ron Weldy.

Norm is survived by his loving wife, Linda Weldy, son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Sharon Weldy, daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Alberto Crespo, son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Cheryl Weldy, and daughter, Debbie Weldy, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 1 sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Norvie Weber, sister-in-law, Beverly Weldy, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 9-11 AM at the New Life Church, 84 Nottingham Rd., Raymond, NH.

Funeral services will follow on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the church.

Burial with military honors will follow in the Old Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond.

Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made in his memory to the Raymond Police Department, 1 Scribner Rd. #3, Raymond, NH 03077 or Welch-Hurd American Legion Post# 90 Building Fund, 32 Harriman Hill Rd., Raymond, NH 03077 .
