Melanie Lynn Furlong, 36, died on April 25, 2017 in Raymond, NH.
She was born November 24, 1980 in Dover, NH, daughter of Martin Furlong and Linda (Carter) Furlong.
Melanie grew up in Dover, NH and was a graduate of Dover High School, Class of 1999. While in high school, she was very passionate about Animal Science. For her entire life, Melanie was an avid animal lover. She loved riding horses on the farm, and she always had pets in her home. Initially, she took animal related classes at Stratham Technical School, before transferring to NH Technical College in ultrasound training. Melanie worked as a sonographer at the Elliot Hospital for the past year, and she started her career with Southern Maine Medical and continued working with other various local hospitals.
Melanie was a longtime member of the Future Farmers of America where she formerly held a position with them as a state officer. She was very generous with her time and volunteered with Make-A-Wish. Melanie had a huge heart and was very loyal to her family and friends. She was someone who always wanted to help someone else.
Her hobbies included, reading, camping, and watching Nascar racing.
She is survived by her mother, Linda (Carter) Furlong of Raymond, NH, her father, Martin Furlong of Woolwich, ME, her maternal grandmother, Mary Rachel Carter of Epping, NH, aunt, Cheryl Carter of Raymond, NH, uncle, Mark Furlong of Downers Grove, IL., her significant other, John Ashley of Kensington, NH, best friend, Nicky and Rich Ashford, several cousins, her two golden retrievers, Marley and Lexie, and her cat, Maddie.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather with whom she was very close, Harvard Milton Carter.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 1:00-4:00 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, Epping, NH.
There is no other formal funeral service scheduled.
