Dear Tim,
I wish you would have known that so many people would have helped you, and this didnt have to be your only answer. I dont have enough memories with you! The day you were born, you brought so much love into our family. I feel like I should have been there for you. I could have related to you more than anybody on that Friday afternoon. Im sorry I wasnt there. Im sorry you felt like this was your only option. You were just so young and just getting started in your life, Im proud of you for the things you did accomplish. I know it wasnt always easy! I love you Tim! A part of my heart will always be missing. I hope you're in a better place. I hope you're happy now. Its hard to go on with life knowing that you're not here. But I will see you again. I love you Tim! Rest in Peace baby brother.

My father-in-law died on Mar. 9, and I was looking for his obituary today. I saw Tim's name and prayed it wasn't him. I was so sad to see that this is the Tim my son, Chad, played chess with, and whom we spent time with at various chess events. He was such a nice guy and and a devoted chess player. I am so very sorry for your great loss. Bruce, your love and devotion to Tim was always very evident. My heart goes out to you. You will all be in our prayers.

Dear Tim, I can't understand why you left us so soon. Your mother and I would have done anything to help you. You meant so much to us. We would have done anything to advise you. We now only have the memories of the years you gave us while growing up. I am so proud of you.You were a great chess player who had potential to become a grandmaster. I only wish you had followed through with this wish. I admired you for attempting to plan out your life. That showed great responsibility. You were showing signs of being a successful man. You mean the world to both your mother and me. Tim I don't know how I will survive without you. I only wish you could have talked to us or Pam on Friday. We would have helped you gladly. We were always there for you. You are much to young to leave us this way. Remember your family will miss you and love you always. In closing may you rest in peace and the angels watch over you. You will always be in our thoughts and prayers.I will miss you always son I love you.

Love always, Dad

Tim Chevalier was a great humorous guy. He will be greatly missed. He used to make fun of me when I read books together at break times at walmart. He would snicker and say to me if I was ever going to finish reading that book. He would read like a book a week. I was very impressed. I was very close to him and was a friend of his outside of work. Tim had a solid character about himself and would at least go out and try something at least once. We went rollerskating, dancing, clubbing, hiking, and went out to halloween with a bunch of friends. I remember that he had a great dry humor about what ever we did. That is why I liked him as a friend so much. He would also speak his mind and tell you directly and honestly how he felt about things that were going on. Rest in peace my friend. You lit up my world we lost one of the great minds of the century.

Tim was a fine young man with a kind, gentle personality and a quiet dry whit. He had a keen chess mind. I always enjoyed playing against him and reviewing our games afterwards. I will miss him at our tournaments.

Debbie and Bruce, my deepest condolences for your loss. It has been a number of years since I have seen Tim or yourselves but I will always remember fondly the great chess matches that Tim and Harrison shared throughout the years of playing scholastic and other tournaments together.

Tim was always so polite and although he was very quiet, he was very willing to engage in thoughtful conversation when pushed a little:-).

I cannot imagine the pain that you are going through but please know that Tim and your family our in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so, SO, sorry for your loss. The overwhelming sadness I feel is tremendous, yet tiny in comparison to what you're family is feeling I'm sure. Our families prayers go to you and your family.

I knew Tim through chess and quite liked him, and we kidded regularly about matters of chess and life. I intermittently asked John whether we'd see more of him at the club, not only as a strong competitor but also just have his character and humor.

My deepest sympathies.

I had the pleasure to get to know Tim through chess, something we both cared about very deeply. He was everything you would expect of a chess player - studious, detail-oriented, analytical and imaginative. More than that, he was a really nice guy and a good friend. I will miss him.
